What is a Missing Person?
A Missing Person is just that - someone who is “missing.” However, is that person missing by choice or by circumstances beyond their control? A missing person could be evading a warrant or arrest or might have taken a holiday from their life for various reasons and wish to be left alone…There are a multitude of reasons that the average person gives little thought to. Typically, when we hear the term “I Missing Person” we suspect foul play as in Child or Adult abductions. However, could there be a health reason, as in Alzheimer’s or mental illness? What about runaway teens who believe they are better off on the street than in their own home?
Please, if you suspect a child or adult to be missing, do not hesitate and contact your local Police Department immediately! Naturally, they will want you to consider all the factors that can make a person late (traffic jam, after school activity, shopping, etc…). Trust your instincts - if you suspect foul play or if there is an existing health issue, then contact them immediately.
